The exhibition was implemented within the framework of the research program ‘Ancient land use strategies in a diachronic perspective and the impacts on modern infrastructure plans: the example of Sifnos’. This, shortened to ‘Siphnos and beyond’, was included in the action ‘Bilateral and Multilateral Research & Technological Cooperation Greece-Germany’ of the ESPA 2014-2020.
The program was carried out in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades, the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Germany, and the software development company Dataverse LTD, as well as with the participation of the University of Ioannina.
The exhibition was organized by the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades in partnership with the Municipality of Sifnos, the Association ‘Friends of the Castle of Sifnos’, the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of Sifnos. In addition to the presentation of the program and the main results of the archaeological research, it also highlighted the main conclusions drawn from the recording of historical data on land use, offering valuable information for the sustainable development of the island.
