Tomorrow, 11-4-2025, the archaeological site at Akrotiri, Santorini, will reopen to the public.
The seismic sequence in the Cyclades resulted in the closure of 20 Cycladic museums and the execution of protective measures for the exhibits. All exhibitions were first dismantled and then re-erected by the staff of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades, with the aim of preserving the exhibits and, subsequently, returning the museums to visitors at the start of the tourist season.
At the same time, emergency measures were also taken to secure ruins and monuments.
The last to re-open was Akrotiri of Thera because the operation of its shelter is particularly demanding to comply with the safety protocols. With the assistance of the Minister of Culture, the TEE took on the matter and gave the green light for the immediate reopening of Akrotiri safely.
