The Archaeological Site of Ypsilis, Andros

In the area of Aprovato lies the planned urban site of Ypsilis, dating from the Geometric period to the beginning of the Classical. It has a strong defence wall treated to later repairs and reinforcements, a close-packed arrangement of structures within and a sanctuary probably dedicated to Demeter that was in operation until almost the middle of the 5th century BC. Its exploration and finds have provided very important results for the Geometric and Archaic periods in the Cyclades.
